Come Felt Some Christmas Warmth and Cheer

If you want to make this season warm and cosy all you need are family , friends , some tasty treats and oh yes FELT. If you haven't been motivated to learn to felt yet by all my warm fuzzy posts this should do it. Felt making is kind of like wearing warm cosy mittens. So put on Sufjan Steven's Songs for Christmas gather some wool fleece, some smooth stones, wreath forms from your local craft shop and make some felted cheer. You can use the previous tutorial I posted for the stones and to felt over the wreath forms all I did was tease some strips of merino sliver and wrap it over the form in layers with slightly different angulations. I used warm soapy water to wet it and then the rubbing began. You can't throw these in the washing machine to do it the lazy girl's way but you can enlist some help from the children or your partner to rub. It doesn't need to be hard felted so don't worry about rubbing until the sheep come home. It is the little bumps, rolls and inconsistencies that make us ( oops I meant to say hand made felt) so very special and lovable. I have decided to make grey an official christmas color this year. And now taking the warmth outside to the forest. Just a little reminder it is the last day to enter the contest by leaving a comment after last Sunday's post. GLORIOUS!!! I love these and, yes, I think I'll add gray to my palette for the holidays, too! What fantastic photos... I've come to expect them, but still find myself gasping. I especially love the wreath in the tree framing the woods and then holding the nest.
