I bet you have all been on the edge of your stone seats, or perhaps you have been perched on a stone wall, just waiting for the next installment of the stone diaries. Well this one has been worth waiting for.
First up is a parcel that arrived from sunny Mexico from my friend
Geninne, the best watercolour artist I know and also famous for her handmade stamps. She is also very talented at painting on stones and she sent to me the faux crochet stone that she blogged and flickered about last month. It came beautifully packaged as all her parcels do. Thanks so much Geninne. I am so happy that I have not sold the inspiration so that they can be stone mates.
Oh and the wonderful thing about her stone is that it is waterproof.
Next up is the most special rockmate that came with his very own message stone from my very sweet friend
Lisa. She is a somewhat new friend to me but in lots of ways I feel like we have known each other for a very long time. Again she packages things in such fun ways and always includes little ribbons that the kitties can argue over. Mr Polar fish boy is the most wonderful plush I have seen in a very long time. I wish you could all sit and stroke his velvet hide ( hmm that sounded funny).
I just know we will have wonderful adventures together hunting for stones along the sea shore this summer.
Thank you so much Lisa , whose birthday extravaganza week is coming up very soon.
The final rock collection for this installment comes from
Joanie , who lives between Canterbury and the coast of England near Dover. This parcel came with history, geology, a repurposed wool blanket, the most beautiful vintage buttons and was a delight to open and study in great minute detail. It was indeed a parcel the came packaged with so much artistic flare and careful consideration that I almost didn't have the heart to disturb it. You will see what I mean in a minute. I want to share with you a little from Joanie's card since it explains the significance of her gift.
"One of the stones is a hard chalk which is what makes the white Cliffs of Dover white. I also included a piece of flint which is very significant to our area. Flint is found in fields all over Kent and is a stone used in most old Norman churches and still used today. I"ve included a photo of a gazebo built in a garden wall - 18th century. The little gazebo is in a beautiful garden where we lived for several years and is the subject of many of my drawings and needlework...."
This gift underwent serious kittie inspection . Thanks so much Joanie , I love each and every one and I have already started using a few for making merfish or merbunnyfish as I have recently been calling them with spring on my mind.
A sad note for the stone diaries is that a fantastic parcel of amazing stones from the Loch Ness has gone missing somewhere between Scotland and my home.
Monika is thinking Nessie had something to do with this. If you happen to see them please redirect them in my direction.
Thanks for your patience in wading through this long blog post. I am going to be taking a short blog break and I wish you all a fantastic week.
Thank you for leaving us with such a beautiful post. Your stone diaries are some of my favorite parts of your lovely stone art evolution. Have a wonderful break... we'll all be right here awaiting your return!

Margie, the stone diaries are deeply magical! You can see the love, appreciation, and creativity in each stone. It's so wonderful to see creative minds transforming such humble materials into works of thoughtful art.
