Of course one hast to create the perfect winter accommodations for your newest friend sent from Nanou. So you take a walk around the neighbourhood for inspiration and what do you see. An amazing igloo, a quinzee and a inukshuk. All within a 30 minute walk from my home.
The quinzee was built by Deborah's outdoor education classmates and can house 14 students!
We had loads of snow but the temperatures were rising so we settled on a porch table quinzee, protected from the rain and avalanches from our roof snow.
Saimanaq enlisted the help of a snow man.
The tree ghost helped the healing friend find her way to the quinzee.
It didn't take long for a very strong connection to form.
after a long trip from France they decided to call it a day. They said that they were going to go to sleep but hours later I think I still hear them talking. I guess they had a great many things to catch up on.
They didn't even see the hockey game ( way to go Canada!!) or the closing ceremonies of the most awesome winter olympics ever.
I was really glad the Canadians won that game, even though I'm an American. It just made sense somehow! Your little friends seem to be getting on quite well. Beautiful story.

Oooh, Margie !
This friend from Nanou really befriended with your own creatures ! They are perfect together.
All this snow, these quinzee, igloo & inukshuk make me smile.
But somehow, it aches, too. I guess my Canadian half longs for its "home" ...
I love these photos, they move me, but words are failing me ...

I wouldn't be surprised if the two of them had a pile of handiwork to show in the morning! They look so happy together. :)
best.

The Healing Friend is living the most fabulous adventure ever !!! What a warmhearted welcome the famed Tree Ghost, Saimanaq and the porch Snowman gave him after his Healing Friend has a warm wool hat and won't catch cold with all this snow and ice. He had never seen a quinzee before and looked so excited to spend the night there with his loved Inuit friend ! I've always known Canadians are one of the most hospitable and friendly people :)

A few words disapeared in my comment (technology doesn't like me !), so I write it again to make it understandable :

Loved the youtube video! The hockey game was great. So nice to see the enthusiasm I'm feeling for my 'home and native land' (and for hockey!) spilling out of one of my favorite craft blogs. The little friends were lovely too!

How perfect that your Saimanaq and Tree Ghost have met and welcomed your Healing Friend from France. It's lovely to see them together; also nice for snowman to host the festivities.
My children built igloos in their outdoor class at school this year but I'm not sure they've ever tried a quinzee. I'll have to ask their outdoor teacher, I'm sure he would love for them to have a go next time we have enough snow.
We get poor coverage of the Olympics here because we don't have many TV channels - I miss them. But a huge congrats to Canada on the WInter Games and all the wins!

It sure is a lot of fun to play in the snow! You get to make those oh-so-nostalgic snowmen, and you get to play around making those snow angels. Haha! You sure have a good set of creative gear, being able to make something like that out of snow. Speaking of snow, how was your roof during the winter? No leaks and all?
