Lost photographs of a very long walk in the forest today. Lost somewhere between the process of loading them on to my computer and fetching my daughter at work this evening. I arrived home and they had disappeared. They were no longer on my SD card , camera or in iphoto. It is a mystery and the only witness to the event, Edgar isn't meowing.
I wanted to show you beautiful leaves, large families of fungi and a very close encounter with a magical swan on the pond in the forest. I guess I might return there tomorrow to see if I can find those perfect shots again or maybe not. I do have three pictures on my iphone , because I like sending on location pictures and emails to a friend of mine and I also have a few pics another spot. I don't know why these few remained and not the others.
And while we are on a swan, duck, goose sort of theme here I might as well show you a few quick shots snapped in algonquin park of a wood pecker. I really adore the forest colors in this set.
I love using the sports mode for capturing pictures of birds.

Oh poor Margie, I'm afraid it's a cruel joke from the malicious troll who removed your photographs :(
Anyway, your i-phone pictures are nice as well and I particulary love your photo of the sumac (hope I'm right) leaf that reminds me our "treasure hunt" in the mountains (but one month later here, it's not cold enough).
Early Friday morning hugs !

These are amazing images too. That fungi covered log is wonderful and I'm a huge fan of woodpeckers, what fun you must have had watching him.
Happy Friday to you :)

agh, I'm so sorry my friend, I don't know what happen ... the mysteries of technology are so dark to humans sometimes. The photos you're sharing here clearly show that it was a fantastic place, filled with such vibrant colors, and a wonderful fauna. Thank you for sharing them, I enjoyed them all.
Have a good Friday, my friend

The log is spectacular! the shapes remind me of the auspicious clouds on oriental art. If you ever go there again, another photo of the log would be Very Wonderful!

Love the detail of the tree trunk with the lake as a background. I'm going to have to try using sports mode to photograph birds. Thanks for the tip.

I am SO enjoying your autumn photos! It is still quite warm here in South Georgia where I live, and the leaves haven't begun to change yet.
Blessings,
Katy

The swan photo reminds me of a fairy tale setting. Breathtaking. I do like that your photos are of live birds! It was quite sad to find that beautiful Merlin dead on my doorstep.
