Sort of fell off the colour week postings with the prom on tuesday and graduation last evening. My husband and I celebrated the last of our four children graduating from high school, all ontario scholars and all wonderful. We did a little too much celebrating because before we knew it we had both slept through our normal early arise times.
It is good to know that there are other night birds out last night at bookhou.

seeing this night scene has made me want to make a canadian owl of some sort with my natural dyed fabrics and stitching. Perhaps just the sort of relaxing project I need for the weekend. Hoping to head to the water for at least a day trip.

I think while I was on duty at the prom the birdies were having a little party of their own before the show that starts tomorrow at bookhou.
I think piper was building a nest for the penguins:)

I hardly have any spare time this week for this but how can I not post a few pictures since I have taken part in every poppytalk color week thus far. I may even need to double post some days this week since the big winged migration show is starting this week as well.

Last dance recital, last child in high school and last season of watching my children play soccer. It is the season of lasts. I know there will be many firsts as well this coming fall and winter too. Life is always a balancing act.

Of course I almost never have idle hands on the side lines.
That is me wearing my favorite vintage sarah clothes summer skirt and chambray sundress. It was very warm on the weekend. I always park my quilt beside the meadow if at all possible although it does distract me a little from the game.
I did manage to catch deborah's amazing goal off a corner kick.

I was going to use the word stealing but it just didn' t seem right. We don't steal time we borrow it from our precious well guarded time bank. Life is so busy this june but I try to find a few moments to stop, breath, observe, gather and create. Oh and also to share some of it with my lovely blog friends.
I am very blessed to work beside a beautiful wild wetland and I have decided to pick a few leaves and wildflowers to document these moments. I am pressing them in my old anatomy book:)
I have started two colorful bundles with petals and leaves from our garden. Lord Byron is guarding the poppy one.

There used to grow a very large maple tree just outside the backyard that would bring lovely shade in the warm sunny months. Just over a year ago the town cut it down as it was dying and it's large dead branches became a hazard in the stormy weather and high winds we were experiencing. I kind of love the sun filled yard but some others might find it to warm. I have been thinking of making some sort of canopy near the garden shed and worked on a little prototype on saturday.
Kind of goes along with the blue theme we have going on. When Deborah came home from her soccer tournament game on the weekend she said, "Look we have a cafe in our backyard."
