who uses the medium of clay to tell her stories

i met tanya besedina at the one of a kind show

and i was immediately attracted to her magical display

i love all things folkloric

i love terracotta clay 

and i love colour

it was as though my polish ancestry and my walk through the mexican market place with geninne

had been wed

...

tanya was wonderful to talk to

she noticed my favorite elsita pin on my dress and told me how much she loved my dear friends art

and how she connects with her because she to has a "hero" child in her life, her daughter

I would love to take a workshop with her one day

for now I will enjoy her website, galleries and her online shops

i hope you will explore them too.

the cat's pajamas

my weekend started with a little bit of lovely mail from my ever so dear friend sonia

and then was filled with things that i have been procrastinating about for weeks ( give you a guess it is a three letter word that starts with t and ends with x)

edgars expression just about sums it up

tamara and i had lovely visits from lilith and her adoring parents

i made vietnamese rice rolls for brunch yesterday

a first for me

and they were oh so yummy

i made some progress on the largest piece for the show

maybe you see some words you recognize

take good care of yourself this week

out of the blue night a forest grew

inspired by one of my family's favorite picture books by maurice sendak 

and the forest at night illuminated only by the moon and all the stars in the heavens

have a lovely weekend my friends

indigo sky

this lovely little birdie knows something that others will never realize even in one lifetime

the sky is not the limit

you can stitch your way 

across the heavens

( first piece completed but not yet framed for an upcoming show all about the color blue)

lilith picks the winner

we had about a dozen correct guesses 

the nudibranch species commonly known as

the blue ocean dragon or sea swallow (Glaucus atlanticus)

lilith was born in the year of the dragon

she is aquarius

and 

she has beautiful blue eyes

no one correct guess was exactly right on how lilith inspired it

so we had lilith herself pick a winner

and

a little guessing game for the weekend

as time passes i don't even notice

trying my darndest to get my feet back on the ground

as you can imagine we are having an amazing time but i just wanted to pop in and share a few images from the closing reception of the winged migration show and also the fabulous workshop at bookhou. I am almost certain that we will be able to convince geninne to visit again but maybe not during the hottest day on record in toronto.
