hard to tell from these photographs that i spent most of the weekend in a strategic planning with other board members and management of the alzheimer's society of york region

makes the remainder of the weekend all the more precious

i think i spent it all outdoors except for sleeping ( although i was tempted to sleep on a hammock under the magnolia tree

the weather was just perfect

so off to work i go with a little bit of sunshine on my cheeks

tonight i will be packing and tomorrow flying off to Newfoundland for an adventure

(happy dance)

spent almost the entire weekend outdoors

dyeing with indigo and scilla

looking for bugs with lilith

first BBQ out in the backyard

early morning walk in the forest with a foxy friend

lunches and morning coffee on the porch

planted some woad seeds that I had gathered last fall in the garden

second rummage sale of the season did not disappoint

very warm

then very cold

first rummage sale of the season

lilith's first walk around the neighbourhood on her own two feet :)

visits to mountain equipment coop and lee valley tools

then a lovely time at the city of craft to get some wonderful things from bookhou , LL+P and kid icarus

home to make spicey lentil soup and a savoury pie with tamara

yummy

oh i left out the snow bit on saturday morning

had a little drip coffee making ceremony with some fresh roasted organic mexican coffee i bought downtown

sunday was bright and sunny and i spent most of the day spring cleaning and in the garden

finding a little time to dip into the indigo pot with new fabric and vintage bits

a lovely and peaceful weekend

but it is something i never take for granted

having someone we care about in cambridge ma

now to decide where to put my wall art so i can admire it everyday

oh and isn't the drop cloth where arounna printed it amazing

i would like to frame that and hang it on my wall too!!!

if you missed out on this first colaboration a little birdie told me there are more projects planned

a glimpse at where the making happens

the thing about my studio is that it is really just a corner of my home

so that i am always close to my family

and i am also always surrounded and inspired by the art of my friends

I can snuggle with the kitties, fetch myself a warm drink from the nearby kitchen

and in the morning i can hear the cardinals calling to one another in the front garden

at the supermarket

sometimes one gets a wonderful surprise to find something, non edible, and totally wonderful

like these wooden and bamboo utensils i picked up at the asian supermarket last week for a few dollars a piece

these stunning cacti and succulents that i found at our local italian supermarket yesterday

one of them, the aloe species has a sticker on the pot that says it is illegal to propogate

has anyone ever seen that before ?

i spent some time on monday

cleaning and rearranging everything on my studio desk

i wanted to push the imac back since the new one has a wireless keyboard :)

little did i know that this would now leave room for a furry friend 

to sit in front of the screen to watch me eat my fruit and yoghurt

hmmmmmm

i was so excited to see this beautiful collaboration

come to life today !

my weekend was spent soaking up the warmth and sunlight in my southerly facing kitchen, enjoying fresh foods served on wooden plates and bowls, cooking with martha, watching the snow melt and then on sunday morning observing the biggest snowflakes of the never ending winter season, spending time snuggling with the my fine furry friends and of course there was some making going on...

going to be spending the day in the kitchen with the three amigos ( aka edgar, arwen and byron) at least until the furnace repair person arrives and warms up the rest of the house , brrrrrr)  . Of course it was -15 degrees C outside when i woke up this morning to a very cold home.  Hope things are well with all of you and especially those enjoying a march break with your young ones.
