i absolutely loved fogo island
and newfoundland
i thought i might but then you are never absolutely sure until you experience it for yourself
we saw icebergs, lots and lots of caribou, amazing picture perfect fishing stages and stores, colourful wooden homes enveloped with sweet wooden fences, colourful clotheslines
we ate loads of seafood and yummy newfoundland cuisine with names as fantastic as their taste
flummies, toutons, scruncheons, jigg's dinner
we saw the most beautiful lichen and moss covered stones, walked through boardwalked bogs speckled with pitcher plants
we observed spring coming to this remote place
and it was delightful
but
in the end it was the people with their open hearts and arms
their ingenuity and skill
using what they have and making the most of it
we're already thinking of when our next trip will be back to fogo island
