all of these photographs were taken on my earth day walk in the forest that grows in my town
i went after work and walked slowly for about an hour
you could feel the energy of the wildflowers pushing their way through the soil and thick dry leaves towards the light
when i closed my eyes i could hear so many birds, squirrels and chipmunks
towards the end of my walk i was marveling at the number of hepatica now in bloom when i noticed a shadow pass over and then come to rest very close to me
a beautiful pair of mourning cloak butterflies came to say hello
one sat on the dry leaves and the other on a log and we chatted about the weather and other things
i think they both agreed i should do homage to them with natural dyed fabrics and embroidery
i think they are right

more magical snow down in southern ontario
i will slowly make my way to work
and enjoy the beauty along the way

we continue to experience a real canadian winter here in ontario
which is alright by me
sometimes i think all the mystical magic of the world is stored up in crystals of snow and ice
and then
then my mind drifts like the snow on my drive home from work last night
and I see the seeds of spring
in my minds eye
it is actually snowing this morning
so i thought
i had better show a few more of last weeks frosty photograph
before the entire world of resurrection fern
is covered in white
