Margie, this is one of the most beautiful posts that I ever read. For some reason it went deep into my soul and it made me happy and nostalgic at the same time (the good kind of nostalgic). What you said about how our memory is so true. And also, Isn't it amazing how objects can carry so much meaning?
When I was growing up in Cuba I remember a special object from our kitchen and that was A TABLE! This was a metal table and the top of it was divided in the parts.
After so many years the table started deteriorating but my Mom wouldn't get rid of it. Then as we moved to smaller houses the table became too big for us so we removed one of the three parts and then another one and in the end the table just became a small thing but we still didn't get rid of it because on that table we ate so many special meals as a family. The little table is still alive! It is in my oldest brother's home. Now he is moving to the USA and I don't know what it's going to happen to it but for sure this table will be always in my heart.

Thank you so much for this post again!
Elsita :)
