"I see myself growing out of the earth and falling back into it like the leaves in autumn"
Wendell Berry
He goes on to say that the autumn for him is a time to pause and consider whether and how our work enriches the world. I am going to follow his lead and consider these things. In some ways I feel like my life is just beginning, there is so much potential and so many chapters still to be written. I guess I feel a little like an acorn.
I have a great love and admiration for these little vessels and I made one on the weekend with liberty tana lawn fabric and a beautiful brown cap crocheted from vintage crochet cotton. I am going to turn it into a necklace.
Love the acorns, the sunflowers on the fence (for the birds?) and your kitty looks so comfy in the rocker...
Lovely photos Margie.

I lovelovelove your acorn necklace. It's one of the most beautiful jewel I've ever seen !!! Really ! I think I'll have this beautiful picture on my mind all the day (at least !). You made an amazing job adding the Liberty fabric (clever idea) to the crochetted cap.
Be sure, Margie, that you are the creative person who enriches the most my world, but you probably already know that !
I love acorns too and I cherish your little wooden one (received with MPCS).
Thanks for your colorful seasonal photos ! Happy autumn to you, Margie, to all the family, to the kitties, snails ... and neighbour squirrels !

Goodness what I wouldn't give for a porch like yours. The beautiful details would keep me entertained for hours. Happy Autumn!

Your work enriches the world in so many ways. I was thinking of you on my morning drive, as every vista--the hill behind me in my rearview mirror, the stalks of corn growing up to a the blue sky dotted with clouds, the red barn my son calls "fire barn"--seemed to fill me with peace and stillness like your photographs. I credit you with teaching me to slow down and see things in this way.

Beautiful words, beautiful images. Acorns are so evocative of potential aren't they?
I love the quote,
Happy Autumn
