you know how much I love this sac
when I saw you wear it.

will you be making anymore?
I would love one.

Hi Margie,
I can see a bag like this made with crochet cotton and stripped plastic bags. It is a good way to reuse plastic bags and makes a strong, washable and reuseable bag. I make rugs out of crocheted plastic bags as well. Thanks for this post. An inspiration as always. Missed you while you were gone over the weekend, but hope that you got your batteries recharged in the best way. Thanks, again, Sherry

Ohlalala Margie, what are you showing us today ?!! Love these genius bags (particulary the crochetted one) ! Great idea of repurposing old belts. I guess you're recieving orders from all your daughters who want their own :)

joanie

They are just what Nanou said "Genius!"
Hard to say which I like more, both lovely. It looks like you had a nice, family weekend even if it's still a bit on the chilly side.

the second one...wow..it looks as if i am going to try and crochet again...and now i have a use for the belt...i paid a fortune for...before the children..;)

Lisa

I am head over heels for these Margie! The first one is my favourite, gorgeous combination of colours and the repurposed belts are inspired. Will you be making some for the shop I wonder?

they are all so beautiful, and the last one looks so sturdy !!
well done you, as usual ;-) xoxoxo

melissa

oohh- these are fab! you must have a magical crochet hook.

Fiona

I love that second one. It has inspired me to have a go on my long haul flight over to the USA. And using belts for handles is brilliant.

I'm a sucker for jute and a lover of leather. You married the two spectacularly. Does your creativity know no bounds? You inspiration you.

tara

I was wondering what you had used for straps -- genius. I really like the jute bag.

Holly McLean

I love the knitted sacs. I also pick up thrift belts here and there.

Treasure bags indeed, carrying around WIPs. How did you find the time to make all three of these since returning from your travels - seems not very much time!?

Margaret Oomen

I only made two do far
One knitted and the other crochet
The crochet one goes really quickly

Love both bags! I ran a knit/crochet along with afriend last year - just about string bags - none of us came up with a leather handle (what a great way to use an old belt!) but we did have an amazing selection of different styles/ colours and I for one am still using mine every day...

pb

super love... i've been saving some belts for the perfect bags! awesome remake! :)

Geninne

I love them both!!! You did such a marvelous job! I wish we could go back in time to that beautiful day we spent at San Miguel...sigh.

mrspao

Lovely bags - they are stunningly pretty.

nicole

These are great. Of course my knitterly heart loves the second one with the stripes. I love the idea of using thrift-store belts for the straps.

Vanessa

Beautiful bags! I've been working on a knit market bag and never thought of using old belts as straps. Thanks for the inspiration!

Flora

oo! what utterly divine sac bags, you are so briliant

Meghan

I LOVE this idea, especially the belt straps. Beautiful work!
