I found a lovely old book at a garage sale a few weekends ago and loved the title, "Living Things for Lively Youngsters" . It was written and mostly illustrated by T.J.S. Rowland and printed in 1933.
In the foreword was the following.
"There are thrills, certainly, to be met in the wilds that one does not find at home: but if one's greatest aim is to see the wonders of Nature, her beauty, the intricate simplicity with which she fashions her machinery, one can find it without going far from home. There is as much cause for marvelling in the everyday web of the garden spider as in any spectacle that Nature can provide. And what in all the world is more amazing than the mechanism of the wild arum for catching flies; what ore fascinating than to watch the slow stages by which the butterfly emerges; what more marvellous than the way trees cover their wounds before the leaves fall?"
Well I couldn't agree more.
hope you are enjoying your weekend

Margie- You see so much through that lens of yours! I love getting a peek at the little wild things around your home. It makes me want to go out and try to spy some things around my place.

Did you have to pay that spider in flies? Amazing photo. I'm having a great time exploring my plants with a macro lens, too - so much to see from that view, and I'm so impressed you can get the little bugs to stay still long enough to photograph!
