I had a monday afternoon backyard dye party with Sonia, Geninne, Arounna and Barbara. So far I have come up with a few basic rules to dye by.
Dyeing at home is a good thing.
Dyeing amongst friends is a very good thing.
You can never dye enough.
It is better to have lots of pots to dye in.
Dyeing naturally is the very best way to go.
Geninne makes the very best guacamole:)
Oh and BTW we dyed with both indigo and woad fermentation vats, coreopsis from the garden, brazil wood, logwood, and pomegranate with iron.
Beautiful line full of fabrics! It's always inspiring to visit here.

These are photos are absolutely captivating. If you ever travel to the San Francisco Bay area, I will have to take you to my friend Kristine's natural dye studio, A Verb for Keeping Warm.

Forget tea parties. Your dye party looks like more fun, even though I do enjoy a good cup of tea.

There's no better way to dye than surrounded by loving friends. It was such a beautiful afternoon. I've got lots of photos from that day!

The second to last rule provides the best mental image.

(Not counting the one about Gennine's guacamole as a rule, though I'm sure it's a law of nature)

Hi there!
I found your blog and your wonderful crocheted stones through The Purl Bee. Since I plan to try to crochet a few stones myself I have placed a link to your tutorial on my blog.
See http://muppetbailey.blogspot.com/p/haakpatroontjes.html.
I hope that that is okay.
It is in Dutch, but I have a feeling that that is not too big a problem for you.
Groeten uit Nederland!

although I'm happy to be back home with my guys, I am so sad not to be there with you, sitting on the porch, embroidering while you're embroidering, and sipping the most delicious Canadian beers. :(
I now look forward to using all the gorgeous pieces I have dyed with you all, wonderful ladies, that day. Oh what fun it had been !

Your colours are absolutely gorgeous. Especially the blues. I have not dyed before but would like to start. Where do you find the ingredients for your dye?
