Harry Lumsden is just such a local eco hero. For nearly three decades the self-taught biologist, now 86 and retired from the Ministry of Natural Resources, with the help of dozens of volunteers has brought the trumpeter swans back to Ontario. There are well over 1,000 trumpeters in the south-central part of the province now and there were none in 1982 when he started the rescue program.
aren't those little ones adorable:)
Adorable! and they grow up to be very handsome swans :) I hope to meet one or two next week!

We have the pleasure of enjoying all his hard work and dedication each time we visit the lakeshore here in Burlington. Great photos, Margie.

They are so beautiful, aren't they? We have a few dotting the small lakes near our house. I love seeing them.
