I was hoping to do an etsy shop update tomorrow but I have to push it back to monday since the sun just refused to come out today. Almost all the leaves are off the trees now and winter can't be far behind. The birds and squirrels are sensing this and so am I. We added a fresh coat of paint to the kitchen and brought in the succulents that had been enjoying the porch all summer. I have also started drying my dyeing experiments on a little line in the kitchen window.
pin cherry dye experiments at different pH on the same piece of silk.
a bright yellow mushroom dye
so far unidentified berry that would not release it's color for over a week in the dye bath and then gave a really lovely warm shade of brown.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that there will be enough light for some photography tomorrow.

We woke this morning to the sounds of the crew pounding stakes into the edges of our driveway for the snow removal service this winter (I know, the snow level is so different between the Toronto and Montreal areas). I'm sure it's the same week they always do it but I was thinking 'No! It's too early'. (Thanks for the lovely comments and the favourite <3 -- warm fuzzies)

It feels nice to be preparing the home for winter, doesn't it? Daniel painted out kitchen yesterday and I'll be making blinds and curtains this week to keep the cold out. We still have the leaves on the trees here, but temperatures are much lower. Your dyeing experiments look lovely. x

That stunning yellow mushroom colour.
Reminds me of the warmth of the sun.

The pin cherry is soo very beautiful. We've been getting peeks of sunshine, but it's mostly grey and wet here too. Perfect for knitting, so I'm not complaining.
Hope today is brighter for you!

Thank you for the reminder. I have a pot of succulents that should come inside too.

Fascinating experiments; is the berry in the picture the one you dyed with? It looks remarkably like the one in this post: http://otchipotchi.blogspot.com/2011/10/herbarium-stone-schinus-molle.html
