Such emotional memories are stirred up by these wonderful photos. So much has been lost in our throw-away society to the detriment of this beautiful planet. Patching and preserving are the very things that have gotten us to where we are, but most folks aren't even aware of it. Thank you, Margie, for the much-needed reminder.
I have collections of linens I have bought just for the beautiful mending...I treasure them and the effort that was put into caring for them...it makes me wonder about the hands that did that neat handiwork and what was going through their mind as they did it? I still mend and patch and darn and make things last...my little rebellion against the throw away society! xx
Seeing such beautiful things carefully preserved in order to be cherished makes my heart glad. They have found a beautiful place to be in your home.

Mending is a lost art for so many. I think it makes your thrift treasures even more valuable.

I like it. I wish I could do the same. Last time when I tried, the result's been... well let's not talk about it.
